Breaking: The Pirates Have Placed Yoshi Tsutsugo on 10-Day IL

Per the Pirates transaction page, the team has placed first baseman Yoshi Tsutsugo on the 10-day IL. The IL placement is retroactive to May 25th. The injury in question has yet to be divulged by the Pirates, but now we can see why the Pirates plan to recall Tucupita Marcano.

Tsutsugo has had a rough go of things during the 2022 campaign for the Pirates. In 113 at-bats, Tsutsugo is carrying a .177/.281/.257 slash line along with an OPS of .538. Known for having immense power, Tsutsugo has managed just five extra base hits (three doubles and two home runs).

Pirates fans have been begging for the team to play Michael Chavis on a regular basis, and now they will have their moment. Chavis has been playing first base more often than not; out of his 27 starts on the year, he has played first base a total of 19 times.
