According to Pirates prospect Ji-Hwan Bae’s Instagram account, the Pirates will call up 24-year-old right-hander Yerry De Los Santos. To add extra emphasis on this being true, Hector Gomez has tweeted out the De Los Santos news as well.

A Dominican Republic native,
De Los Santos, signed with the Pirates in July of 2014 and was assigned to the DSL the following year. Primarily used as a reliever, De Los Santos has accumulated 175.1 innings pitched, posted a 2.67 ERA, and held opponents to a .238 average.

In 2022, De Los Santos opened the season with the Pirates Triple-A club in Indianapolis and has looked dominant in his 15.2 innings pitched. Over the course of the season, De Los Santos has held opponents to a .148 average, struck out 20, and walked two with a 1.72 ERA.

No corresponding move has been made to make room for De Los Santos, but when it happens, be sure to check back at Pittsburgh Baseball Now for all your news and notes.
