2024 MLB Trade Deadline Tracker

The 2024 MLB trade deadline is here. 30 teams across the league will be scrambling to make deals prior to 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

There have already been a number of notable trades leading up to the deadline. Randy Arozarena was traded by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees acquired Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Miami Marlins.

Several starting pitchers have changed teams, including Frankie Montas (Reds to Brewers), Zach Eflin (Rays to Orioles), Yusei Kikuchi (Blue Jays to Astros) and Erick Fedde, who went from the White Sox to the Cardinals as part of a rare three-team trade. There have been many others, too.

Even with the flurry of activity already, there is still a lot to be settled before the buzzer sounds on Tuesday evening.

The Pirates have been searching for an outfield bat and land De La Cruz from the Marlins. He’s slugged 18 homers this season.

4:43 ET: Mets Acquire RHP Tyler Zuber From Rays For RHP Paul Gervase

The Mets add a bullpen reinforcement in Zuber, who has made two appearances with the Rays and pitched well in Triple-A. Gervase is a 6-foot-10 right-hander who has a 3.25 ERA and has struck out 46 batters in 27.2 innings at Double-A this year.

4:32 ET: Padres Acquire LHP Tanner Scott And RHP Bryan Hoeing From Marlins For LHP Robby Snelling, RHP Adam Mazur, INF Graham Pauley And INF Jay Beshears

The Padres land the prize of the relief market in Scott, who was named an All-Star this year. The lefty has an immaculate 1.18 ERA and has recorded 18 saves with the Marlins. Hoeing has posted a 2.70 ERA across 30 innings and is under club control through 2028. It’s the second big-time trade for bullpen help for San Diego, along with Jason Adam, who was acquired from the Rays.

Snelling is the 44th-best prospect in baseball and No. 2 on the Padres’ top 30. Mazur is ranked No. 4, Pauley is No. 5 and Beshears is No. 24.

4:27 ET: Twins Acquire RHP Trevor Richards From Twins For INF Jay Harry

The Twins were the only team left yet to make a deal leading up to the trade deadline until they got Richards. The right-hander has struggled of late and is 2-1 with a 4.64 ERA on the year. Harry was selected in the sixth round of last year’s draft out of Penn State. .655 OPS in High-A this season.

The ever-active Jerry Dipoto strikes again, getting Chargois, the second reliever they’ve added this trade deadline. The right-hander, who pitched for Seattle in 2021, has a sparkling 1.62 ERA across 15 appearances this season. Schomberg is 7-2 with a 2.83 ERA in 19 starts and has reached High-A this year.

4:00 ET: Mets Acquire RHP Paul Blackburn From A’s For RHP Kade Morris

The New York Mets are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed starter Paul Blackburn from the Oakland A’s, sources tell ESPN.

Blackburn was activated off the injured list and pitched for the A’s on Friday. He’s 4-2 with a 4.41 ERA in nine starts this season. Morris, the Mets’ 25th-best prospect, is 4-3 with a 3.43 ERA in High-A.

3:51 ET: Royals Acquire INF Paul DeJong From White Sox For RHP Jarold Rosaro

The Royals and White Sox make an inter-division trade with De Jong landing in Kansas City. The veteran infielder has had a solid bounce-back season at the plate. He’s slugged 18 homers in 104 games. The 22-year-old Rosaro has a 1.85 ERA in 27 relief appearances in Class-A.

3:49 ET: Rangers Acquire LHP Andrew Chafin From Tigers For RHP Jason Montalvo and RHP Chase Lee

The Texas Rangers are finalizing a deal to acquire left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin from the Detroit Tigers, sources tell ESPN.

The defending World Series champions make a move to their bullpen. Chafin is 3-2 with a healthy 3.16 ERA in 41 appearances with the Tigers on the year. Montalvo considered Rangers’ 27th best prospect with a 2.44 ERA in 13 starts in High-A. Lee not ranked but pitching well in Triple-A.

3:44 ET: Royals Acquire RHP Lucas Erceg From A’s For RHP Mason Barnett, RHP Will Klein and OF Jared Dickey

The Kansas City Royals are finalizing a deal to acquire right-handed reliever Lucas Erceg from the Oakland A’s, sources tell ESPN.

The Royals make a big move this trade deadline to bolster their bullpen, acquiring Erceg from Oakland. The right-hander is 2-3 with a 3.68 ERA and three save this season and isn’t arbitration-eligible until after the 2026 season. Barnett is the Royals’ No. 4 prospect and Klein is No. 18. Dickey is not ranked in their top 30.

3:02 ET: Guardians Acquire RHP Alex Cobb From Giants For LHP Jacob Bresnahan and a PTBNL

Trade news: The Cleveland Guardians are finalizing a deal to acquire right-hander Alex Cobb from the San Francisco Giants, sources tell ESPN.

The Guardians add some rotation depth in Cobb, who is rehabbing his was back from the injured list. The veteran right-hander underwent hip surgery and hasn’t pitched in the big leagues this season but has made six rehab starts. Bresnahan was recently promoted to Single-A after posting a 2.54 ERA in the Arizona Complex League.

3:01 ET: Astros Acquire LHP Caleb Ferguson From Yankees For RHP Kelly Austin and $750K International Bonus Space

The Yankees have traded Caleb Ferguson to the Astros for a minor leaguer and international pool money.

Ferguson heads from the Yankees to the Astros after going 1-3 with a 5.13 ERA with New York. Austin is 3-0 with a 2.21 ERA and three saves between Single-A and High-A this year.

2:47 ET: Angels Acquire RHP Mike Baumann From Giants For Cash Considerations

Baumann heads to the Angels after he was designated for assignment by the Giants on Saturday. 3-0 with a 4.41 ERA between three different teams this season.

2:22 ET: Diamondbacks Acquire 1B Josh Bell From Marlins for Cash Considerations

The Marlins fire sale this trade deadline continues with Bell headed to Arizona. In 104 games on the season, the switch-hitter is batting .239 with a .699 OPS, 18 doubles, 14 homers and 49 RBIs.

1:50 ET: Orioles Acquire LHP Trevor Rogers From Marlins For INF Connor Norby and OF Kyle Stowers

After trading for Zach Eflin from the Rays, the Orioles made a further addition to their stating rotation in Rogers. The left-hander has made 21 starts this year and is 2-9 with a 4.53 ERA. Norby is considered the Orioles’ fifth-best prospect. He made his MLB debut earlier this season and collected six hits in 32 at-bats. Stowers is currently in Triple-A but hit .306 in 19 games in the big leagues this season.

1:41 ET: Red Sox Acquire RHP Lucas Sims From Reds For RHP Ovis Portes

The #RedSox today acquired RHP Lucas Sims from the Cincinnati Reds, in exchange for minor league RHP Ovis Portes.

To make room for Sims on the 40-Man Roster, the Red Sox designated LHP Brandon Walter for assignment.

The run on relivers continued with Boston acquiring Sims from the Reds, who went 1-4 with a 3.57 ERA in 43 appearances in Cincinnati this year. Portes has a 2.12 ERA in 11 appearances between the FCL and Class-A Salem.

1:21 ET: Yankees Acquire RHP Mark Leiter Jr. From Cubs For INF Ben Cowles and RHP Jack Neely

Trade news: The New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs are in agreement on a trade that will send right-handed reliever Mark Leiter Jr. to the Yankees and infielder Ben Cowles and right-handed reliever Jack Neely to the Cubs, sources tell me and @kileymcd.

The Yankees add to their bullpen by acquiring Leiter, who went 2-4 with a 4.21 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 39.1 innings for the Cubs. Neely is rated as the Yankees. No. 22 prospect by MLB Pipeline and Cowels checks in at No. 29.

1:01 ET: Pirates Acquire LHP Josh Walker From Mets For LHP Nicolas Carreno

The first trade of the day belongs to the Pittsburgh Pirates, who acquired the recently-DFA’d Josh Walker from the New York Mets. The left-handed reliever has a 6.45 ERA in 24 big-league appearances between 2023-24. Went 2-2 with a 2.83 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 28.2 innings with Triple-A Syracuse this season. Carreno is pitching in the DSL.
